Teach Me To Love - Author Interuption

As you can see I'm tying as fast as I possibly can come up with this stuff despite the fact that I'm constantly getting interupted by phone calls at my job.

Folks, this is as live as it comes and I'm just as interested in what's going to happen myself.

I want to try to post before the end of the day, which ends at 3pm EST for me (early) because of the Internet Marketing class I'm teaching tonight.

If you still want to register for that, please give me a call. I've got five more pre- registered spots left.

After 3pm, I probably won't be able to post till Tuesday of next week, but hopefully over the new year, I'll get to the end before Tuesday.

Subscribe with Blogarithim for the update (to the right of the screen) so you can find out when I've posted again.

Can't wait to see what's going to happen.

SIDENOTE: Tonya Valdez, the husband ain't dead yet. He's just little to none in her life. Trust me, when I kill that SOB, we all gonna see that!

Okay, back to the story and I'm typing as fast as possible Marlena and no you cannot know what's gonna happen before everyone else, but I sure do like the fact that you want to name your second child after me. LOL.

Teach Me To Love Chapter 21 Part 3

Okay folks, that will be it for today. I was trying to make up for the holiday and no posting, so I hope I have made up for that which I am still deeply sorry for it.
To Tonya Valdez (http://tonyavaldez.com/): You are the funniest. Your earlier comments about the rape scene almost made me stop the story, but i decide to pursue it. I'm very glad I did stick to it cause it was worth seeing that comment you left. I'm deeply honored you are getting a kick out of it. (it gets really good too). I'm so excited about the upcoming chapters.
I'm busily scripting the next chapters and I'm going to hand write tonight since I have no computer at home maybe the ending by tomorrow and I'll just continue to post.
I want to try to finish this baby by the end of the year cause I really don't want to change the copyright year and I need to hurry and get all the characters on page so I can get the next story up and running.
Yes, there will be characters from this story going into another story.
One character will be Melinda our nurse. She's going to be in another one but I haven't determined her Male hero yet.
Dr. Monica is definitely on my shyte list so I'm going to have to bring her up somewhere. its not that i dont' like her, she's just nosey and annoying as hell.
and then there's the surprise character coming up....nope nope won't tell won't tell, you'll just have to keep reading, but that one will definitely be in the Onyx Heart book cause I'm just feeling this one real good.
PS Onyx Heart book won't be til after I finish up Stealing Innocence III - DON'T ASK WHEN THAT ONES DONE EITHER, lol. Lethal is a tough azzwipe to write about.
Okay, enough blabbing.
See y'all tomorrow.
Enjoy....

Teach Me To Love Chapter 21 Part 1

Originally when i had thought of this story, this was the chapter where I stopped at and I just couldn't get the momentum going back no matter how I attacked the story.
For some reason, I got stuck at the part when Rachel was at the hospital. I'm like what the hell am I gonna do now. She done tried to kill herself. How low can it go and when does it ever get better for her?
She was fricking depressing me and it was so hard to just want to shuck the entire story and write something with a lot more happiness in it.
But then as I approached it one last time, I told myself hell Sylvia. This is life. Sometimes there are situations in life where you can't solve and sometimes you really do have to wait until miracles can happen in life.
Because if it was meant to be, you'll get what's coming to you.
Rachel taught me a lot and I'm so glad I finally got what's coming to her.
Enjoy....

Teach Me To Love Chapter 20 Part 2 (sorry it took so long)

I know, kill me! Hurt me! Shoot me!

I couldn't get to a computer this weekend. My plan of action was to go to my sister's house to upload the story, but she decided to take an unexpected trip to Alabama to start the family tree - as if I need to know about more relatives, LOL.

So, I couldn't upload, but this holiday weekend gave me time to write out what's to come so I have a lot of typing to do.

I changed the story just slightly. It's not going to go like we all planned. It kinda took on a life on its on.

One moment I was seasoning the spare ribs for Christmas, the next thing I knew was that my mind was trying to figure out how to kill Robert. Should it be by Rachel's hands? Derrick's hands? And then what to do about Derrick?

I mean there were a lot of questions going on in my head and I couldn't find the answers to them. I kept repeating scenes in my head and trying to find a solution.

Finally Monday night when I couldn't think of anything else, because four of Tmobile's towers went down and I had no phone service, my brain finally just opened up and OH MY LAWD! I started writing until my hand cramped up, my bladder felt like it was about to fall out my body and my eyes were hurtign from the low light in my apartment.

But i didn't care. I was experiencing a braingasm and let me tell you, it felt so good.

So, without further ado, here's some more....(I'll be posting all day, so keep up folks.)

Enjoy......

Teach Me To Love - Chapter 19 Part 1

The bump in the house didn’t awaken her immediately, but she wished it had as flashlights surrounded her out of nowhere. A harsh whispered order from an unknown man had her bound and gagged before she could fully away and put up a fight.
Please say this is a dream,’ she screamed in her head.
Gasping as terror enveloped her, she was slung over a broad shoulder like sack of potatoes by some large man dressed in dark clothing and smelled as if he had spilled an entire bottle of cheap cologne on himself.
“Get her purse!” the one carrying her ordered in thick voice, just as another piece of cloth was wrapped over her eyes and she was carried out of her home. The summer night air was chilly and Rachel wished she had put on some underwear and socks after her bath. Her kidnappers set her in a chair and she assumed it had to be either a van or very large SUV. She was driven for what seemed like a very long time. No one touched her and no one spoke in the van. The one that had carried her was somewhat nearby from the smell of him. When the vehicle stopped, she was picked up like before and carried easily up stairs and a door opened.
After setting her down ever so gentle and making sure she could stand, footsteps retreated away from her, a door closed and the room was quiet. Still bound, she took off the blindfold and untied her ankles while looking around the room. It was a small room with only a black leather couch, windows covered with thick heavy black curtains and thick black carpet soft to touch and no doubt expensive. Pulling back the black curtains revealed a large piece of plywood over the window so she couldn’t look out. Removing the gag from her mouth, Rachel was startled by a groan coming from behind the couch.
She warily stepped around to see Robert lying on the floor badly bruised and beaten. Kneeling down, she shook him and called his name.
He mumbled, “Please don’t. No more.”
When she shook him harder, he came awake scrambling away from her and begging for his life. But when he realized who she was, he shook off his fear and looked around the room warily.
“Where are we?” she demanded to Robert.
“How in the hell should I know?” he growled and tried the door, but realized it was locked. He smelled as if he hadn’t washed up in days and he still had the bracelet from the hospital on his arm. His clothes were torn and dried blood patches were here and there. The swelling in his face was here and there. Someone had beaten the cotton out of him and Rachel didn’t feel one ounce of pity, but she became a little fearful that she would get the same treatment.
Robert turned to her when he had no success in trying to get the door opened. “Some men just ran up on me in this big truck and snatched me in, beat the shit out of me over and over again and dragged me here, then beat me up some more.” He touched his chest because something was hurting him internally. Looking her over skeptically, he asked worriedly, “What did they do to you?”
“They broke in the house and kidnapped me.”  Her wrists were still bound and she held them out for Robert to undo them, but he didn’t.
Instead, he went over to the window to see if he could get the plywood off. The wood had been placed up there securely. They were trapped in the room.
Sarcastically, she said, “I take it you haven’t given that man his money?”
Robert didn’t said answer, “Where are the children?” he demanded
“That’s none of your business,” she sneered. “Do you have any of the money that you owe him?”
“I told you no!” He was becoming angry by her tone of voice, but Rachel could really care less because she was just as mad and just as terrified for her life as he was.
“Can’t you convince this guy that I’m not a part of this?” she pleaded, as she finally pulled the ropes off her wrists by using her teeth. “I’m not doing anything just to pay off your debt!”
Robert swung his large thick arm at her, but being fat and Rachel being very upset and alert, she stumbled back before he could strike her, but she tripped over her purse that was on the floor. Falling, she hit her face and arm hard against the side of the chair’s corner before her body hit the floor.
“You’ll do whatever the fuck he wants,” Robert threatened after delivering a hard kick to her stomach and then grabbed her by her shoulders, pulling her up on her feet. Shaking her violently, he ripped her nightgown. There was this wild desperation in his eyes. “He’ll kill us! He’ll kill the kids.”
Rachel fought to get away from him, feeling the sting around the edges of her eye, knowing that was swelling up. Robert released her and she fell to the ground still feeling dizzy from being shaken so hard. He moved over her body and held her down with his weight. She couldn’t budge him off her no matter how hard she fought.
Pinning she shoulders down with one arm and getting her hands under his thick legs, he ordered, “Say it, Rachel. Say you’ll do it!”
          “No!” she screamed.
The sting of the back of his hand almost knocked her unconscious, but she fought to stay alert despite the room spinning and her body dying to shut down. She couldn’t breath with all his weight on her chest and the musty sweaty smell of his was making her nauseous.
“Say it Rachel! Or I’ll beat it out of you”
She knew he would and she knew he would kill her if she still continued to fight. Tears welled up in her eyes as she hissed her acquiesce. “Yes!” she wretched. “Yes!”

Teach Me To Love - Chapter 18 Part 3

The next morning, Tonya convinced her to go to the house and pick up the mail to see if the insurance company sent anything – especially a nice check. Rachel felt this was probably a good idea and she would clean up while she was there.

Jessica was very comfortable with Tonya and Rachel didn’t have to worry about her daughter. Jessica still took pain medicine, but only as needed and she had ventured to try using the crutches around a small area in Tonya’s apartment to get up her arm strength. Despite her injury, she also tried to draw and paint, which relaxed her. Tonya helped Jessica with the work needed for Jessica to pas her current grade. The school was going to give Jessica until the end of summer to take a test that would determine if she passed or not.

Rachel’s apartment was still secured and the tenants who lived in the other flats had kindly slipped rent envelopes under Rachel’s door. Buying the four- family flat had been about the only good investment she had really made in her life and although their living space was small, she felt that she could afford the simplicities in order to maintain the property. With the stash she had saved from living in Canada, she was able to pay a lot of the debt she had left down in Davenport to give herself good credit. Doing that had allowed her to buy the home and she was so proud of herself that she had made the repairs and upkeep of the home all by herself. Robert hadn’t helped one bit and with one dime.

By mid-afternoon, she had finished cleaning up the mess Robert had made on his last day there and she put a lot of this things out by the curb. If he were watching, he would come by and pick it up. Otherwise it would be a free for all for the neighborhood. At this point, she didn’t really care. Of course during her clean up she looked for anything that could give her a clue as to where Robert could have put any money or any business dealings that Robert was doing which could give her leverage with Carne Smith.

So very pissed at Robert at this point, she would gladly give him up to the sadistic street thug.

Rachel called the hospital around eight to check on Justin, but there was no change in his condition. Tonya called shortly afterwards because Jessica was getting ready to go to sleep. Rachel wished her daughter a very goodnight and then spoke back to Tonya.

“How’s she doing?” Rachel asked Tonya.

“She’s good. She’s strong just like her mother.”

Teasingly, she threatened, “Shut up or I’ll start that stupid crying again. I’ll be leaving here shortly. I hadn’t realized how late it had gotten until you called.”

Tonya quickly said, “No, Rachel. It’s going to be too dark. Do you really think it’s safe to be out at night? At least there, you’ll be secure.”

Rachel agreed, but she didn’t’ feel comfortable staying there – alone, yet she pushed away her fears. “Fine, I’ll see you early in the morning. We can take Jessica and visit Justin together.”

Tonya wished Rachel a sleepy goodnight. Gathering a clean nightgown and towel, she headed for the bathroom too exhausted and stressed to eat anything. As she undressed in front of the mirror, she took notice of how her body had changed over the yeas. She had gotten down to a nice size twelve, although her hips seemed to stay full, but with a lot of hard work and exercise she had gotten her stomach to it’s original flatness. It wasn’t as toned like in college, but the stretch marks had long disappeared although there were silvery lines right across the top of her womanhood that led around to her thick toned derriere.

Taking a long hot bath, Rachel noticed the magazine she had left in the bathroom torn up in the garbage. Leaning over the tub, she reached over and took the cover page out. Only the top of his eyes was showing on the torn page, but that was enough. Griping the paper to her chest she closed her eyes and cried weeping mournfully.

Teach Me To Love Chapter 18 Part 2

The beeping was the only noise in the room as Rachel sat next to the bed staring down at Justin and holding his hand. The boy’s eyes were closed and there were bandages wrapped around his head, face and neck along with braces and stitches. Her son looked horrible with the swelling and bruising. The covers had been drawn up to his neck to keep him warm and hopefully keep the fever away. She lightly kissed his hands and sobbed deeply for her son’s pain.
A light knock on the hospital door caught her attention and the nurse, Melinda, peeked her head in. “I know you’ve restricted all visitors, but there is someone here that asked specifically for you.” She was a kind young woman and had been deeply understanding since Rachel’s arrival. Melinda had been present with Rachel when the officers explained everything.
Rachel went into the waiting area and was so glad to see Tonya standing there. They hugged tightly and Tonya whispered words of comfort and support in Rachel’s ear.
          “What happened?” Tonya asked.
“Robert was trying to leave town,” she explained. What Rachel had been told, had been relayed to her through doctors, witnesses at the scene, the police and nurses. “According to witnesses, a hit and run accident resulted in someone nicking the back of the Toyota and flipping it over.” Fighting the sobs encompassing her, she continued, “Robert didn’t have them strapped in. Jessica told the doctors that her brother strapped her in. It seems that Justin must have seen the accident coming or had a premonition and secured his sister before everything happened.” Wiping her eyes with a Kleenex, she took a moment to gather herself.
Tonya rubbed Rachel’s shoulder trying to console her. “What’s Jessica condition? Is she in intensive care too?”
Rachel shook her head. “No, only Justin, but she’s going to have to stay for a while. The front driver seat dislodged and crushed her left leg. They’re predicting she might not be able to fully recover. She could have a limp for life.”
          “Jesus!” Tonya gasped. “And Justin?”
“He’s in a coma. They said if he doesn’t awake in seventy-two hours it could be permanent and there’s no telling what percentage of the brain could be damage with long term effects.”
Tonya gasped some more. “What about Robert?”
Seething, Rachel said, “He was strapped down and all he’s suffering from are some nicks and bruises. How could he do this to them, Tonya? He knew the consequences if he tried to leave.”
Keeping her voice low, because there was one other person in the waiting area over in a corner sleep, Tonya asked, “Do you think Carne had something to do with this?”
Shrugging, Rachel said, “I don’t know what to think, but either way Robert shouldn’t’ have been trying to leave town.” She didn’t add especially without her, because she had intentions of doing the same thing, just not so public.
Elizabeth Herlong entered the waiting room looking highly upset. “Why won’t they let me in to see my babies?” she demanded to Rachel almost shoving Tonya out her way to get to Rachel.
“Because they aren’t your babies,” Rachel said matter-of-factly. She really had no patience to deal with Elizabeth. “I told the nurse and staff that I wanted them to have no visitors. That included any family and especially their father until the police can get to the bottom of it all about the accident. They need their rest, Elizabeth.”
“Is that the same for Robert? Is that why you haven’t gone over to see your husband?” Elizabeth accused. “He is just as troubled as you are. He needs his wife’s support.”
Rachel had enough of this tyrannical old lady and at this point she was tired of being nice. Obviously, Elizabeth didn’t know the real deal and Rachel wasn’t about to tell the old bat. “Get out of here, before I forget my manners and assault you, Elizabeth,” she warned.
Elizabeth must have understood the menace in Rachel’s eyes, but she still huffed, “You’ll be sorry about this. I told Robert to leave them kids with me when he brought them without you. They were much happier and they’d be much safer because you don’t know anything about being a mother.”
Tonya interjected, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
The old woman’s cold black eyes never veered from Rachel’s as she sneered, “It means what does a motherless bastard know about raising good children.”
Rachel couldn’t stop herself as she reached out and slapped Elizabeth across the cheek. The words had cut deeper than any wound her son had ever given done to her. Barely able to control the fury, she seethed, “Get the hell out my face and don’t you ever come near my children again.”
Elizabeth held her face shocked that Rachel would lash out that way. “I’ll get my babies if it’s the last thing I do and you can guarantee that I won’t need you permission to get them. Robert will be most glad to help his mother rather than some stupid cow he used to keep his American citizenship.” She stalked out the room
Tonya shook her head in disbelief, appalled at Elizabeth’s selfishness and heartlessness. “I take it that was your mother-in-law?”
“Unfortunately.” Rachel rubbed her hand from the sting of the slap.
“What are you gong to do now?”
“I don’t know. The money is due today and I haven’t the slightest idea what I can do.”
“Why don’t you go home and get some rest, first and let me think of something,” Tonya suggested. “I think we can at least find a way to stall.”
Rachel shook her head. “I’m not going to drag you into this, Tonya. This man is very dangerous and I don’t want you to even try to get involved into something like this.”
“But you’re my friend and I won’t do anything without consulting you first,” Tonya promised and gathered her coat. “Promise me you’ll get some rest.”
Nodding reluctantly, Rachel said, “I’ll do my best. I need a change of clothes and they said maybe some of Justin’s things that he likes would be best to put in the room.”
“Keep my car and do whatever you have to do. I’ll let everyone know how things are with the children and I’ll see if I can get Jessica’s class work so she won’t get behind at school too much.”
Rachel hugged Tonya dearly. “Thank you so much, Tonya. You don’t know how much this means to me.”
When Tonya was gone, Rachel returned to Justin’s room to see him before she left.
Melinda came in the room to check on his chart. “How’s everything?”
“No change,” Rachel said, but she knew the nurse knew that already.
“I was speaking about yourself, Mrs. Herlong.”
“Rachel, please...call me Rachel. I’m as well as can be expected given the situation. I’m going to take everyone’s suggestion and go home to get some of his things, but I’ll be right back after I grab something to eat.”
“That’s no problem. The rest will do you good and Justin’s going to be just fine.” Melinda promised.
Rachel knew this was a lie, but Melinda was trying to say anything to make her feel better. She appreciated the nurse’s sentiments. Before leaving the hospital she stopped in to see Jessica, but her daughter was still sleeping and Rachel didn’t want to bother he. She let the head nurse know she would be right back.
By the time she arrived home, she had a plan in mind for what to do about Robert. She found some old locks in the basement of the home and changed the locks, secured all the windows and took all the important papers out of the basement where she had stashed them. She called the restraining order office in the Coleman A. Young building to find out how to go about obtaining and order. Gathering everything she would need for Jessica, Justin and a changed of clothes for her, she drove downtown to speak with Legal Aide and to get the process going for a personal protection order against her self and her property.
After paying to have someone serve Robert the papers in the hospital, she also used the money she had on her to start the separation process. As she walked out the Penobscot Building and went to Henry Ford Hospital in time to get to Robert’s personal items before the papers were served. He had been given a sedative and all she had to do was tell the hospital staff she was his wife.
They allowed her access to his room. Peaking around the curtains to look at him, she knew the actions she had taken today would change things for them. Going into the closet, she took his keys and his wallet. There wasn’t any money in there; she didn’t take it for that.
Rachel went over to Children’s Hospital and visited Jessica. She was still a bit groggy from the medicine, but was very glad to see her mother.
“Justin?” she asked faintly. “He wouldn’t wake up.”
Rachel quickly reassured her daughter. “The doctor is taking good care of him, Jessica. You get better, okay so you can help me read to him his favorite books.”
Jessica nodded and closed her eyes still holding Rachel’s hand tightly. Rachel let grief come to the surface, yet relief also because her daughter was going to be fine.

* * *

She spent three days in the hospital tending to the children never leaving their sides. If she wasn’t at Justin’s bed, she was with Jessica. Robert was released on the second day and he disappeared from sight, not even bothering to try to see the children. There was no sign of Carne or his men around the hospital and Rachel rested on a small sigh of hope that maybe – just maybe – Robert took care of his own problems or Carne decided she was just too innocent and would leave her and the children alone.            That still didn’t make her stop sleeping with one eye open ready to be confronted by the exotic, dark looking, dangerous gangster.
Justin’s condition was unchanged, but hope still lingered for her only son. By the fourth day, good news came Rachel’s way. Jessica was feeling well enough to go home.
Tonya more than welcomed them into her apartment on the Westside of Detroit, Rachel decided to stay there that night instead of staying in the hospital. She didn’t want to even go by the house and her other residents told her that her place was fine. Summer vacation had begun and Rachel had to decline teaching summer school. Tonya was able to stay home all day though so it was nice to spend time with her friend.
As they settled in Tonya’s king size bed that night, Jessica snuggled to her mother and fell instantly asleep. Tonya lovingly rubbed Jessica’s hair “I’ve been checking on your house, too. The bars were installed two days ago and I told the precinct you wanted special attention.”
“Thank you, Tonya,” Rachel said yawning. “I don’t’ know what I would do without you.”
“I spoke to your health insurance company,” Tonya stated.
“Why would you do that?”
Bashfully, Tonya said, “I was putting in for your family leave and I started thinking of all the ways you could come up with some money and sometimes there’s money for disabilities.”
Aghast, Rachel said, “I wouldn’t use my own children to get the money for that animal if it’s still owed.”
“But if it’s the only way, Rachel, you have to use that option,” Tonya said. “I found out you also have supplemental insurance and I was going to call them tomorrow soon as you told me how critical things are with the kids. If you don’t get that money, who’s to say Robert won’t try and take it without paying Carne or worse gamble it all away again.”
Rachel knew Tonya could be right. Robert had problem and his problem had now affected his family in the worst way, but that was probably still not going to make him quit. Elizabeth wasn’t going to give anyone the money. She was very aware of her son’s problem, but she was so frugal Rachel was positive no matter what danger her “babies” were in, Elizabeth wouldn’t give up a dime.
“Fine, Tonya, find that out for me and let me know,” she said reluctantly, feeling disgusted and helpless by the whole thing.

Teach Me To Love Chapter 18 Part 1

Rachel didn’t know how she made it through finals that night with so much on her mind, but the professor looked at her positively as she was leaving the room. Rachel knew that she had done well with the other assignments and she just needed the final in order to make her grades look well. Robert hadn’t come home that night and Rachel waited until after midnight to pack her car up with three emergency bags for her and the kids. If worst came to worst, she wanted to be able to leave on a moments notice without him.
Giving a lot of thought to everything that had happened in the past twenty-four hours, Rachel came to the conclusion that despite everything and the fear she felt with Robert, she had a greater fear of Carne Smith. She knew that the lives of her children were at stake. If she had to run for the rest of her life for her children, then she would.
The next day, Tonya came to Rachel’s classroom right after lunch with a frantic expression on her face and a substitute teacher in tow. The substitute immediately took over the class as Tony led Rachel out into the hallway to speak in private.
“Robert just came here,” Tonya announced.
          “Why?” Rachel asked worriedly.
“He took the kids out of their class. I wouldn’t even have recognized him if I hadn’t saw the kids come into the office, but I was so busy I didn’t hear who he requested. There’s a new girl working in the office so she didn’t know that they’re your kids.” Tonya handed Rachel the keys to her car. “I followed him out to the parking lot and watched him take your car. Take mine and call me later, okay?”
Rachel got her purse after snatching the keys from Tonya. Hopefully, Robert didn’t notice that the kids bags were already packed and had went to the house to pack them already. She drove a breakneck speed to her home; only to find that the door was left unlocked and Robert had ransacked the place taking everything that was of value to them. She went to her room and looked through her items Robert had gotten to her jewelry box and taken her bracelet and pendant.
He had even taken the wedding ring she had stopped wearing that couldn’t have been worth more than twenty bucks. Falling on the bed, she screamed in agony.
The phone rung and she ran over to pick it up. “Robert?! Is that you?” she asked desperately.
“Is this Mrs. Rachel Herlong?” a soft feminine voice asked.
“Yes, who is this?” Rachel demanded.
“My name’s Melinda and I work in the emergency room at Henry Ford Hospital. Your children were in a very bad accident and were just admitted-“
Rachel dropped the phone, grabbed her purse, and ran out the door.
What had Robert done?! What had Robert done?!
He must have been trying to flee town and in his haste he had an accident, hurting the children. Or Carne was making sure that no one left town alive.

Teach Me To Love Chapter 17 Part 3

Derrick couldn’t believe what fate had dealt him. In a controlled voice, he said, “Wouldn’t I be implicated in your dealings, Carne?” In no way did he want his stepbrother to know how magnanimous this opportunity was to him. Carne would just love to find a way to get Derrick under his thumb.
Carne took a moment and seriously looked at Derrick. “Don’t want the feds taking away your father’s precious company?” He put on some weird horrible British accent. “Daddy wouldn’t be proud anymore, would he?”
“Let’s be honest Carne, every time I’m involved with your shit, I end up with bars up my ass and too much damn time on my fucking hands,” he sneered.
“So my offer to assist my business hasn’t been accepted, Derrick?” Carne asked as the Escalade stopped in front of a house that was five houses away from where the hatchback was parking.
Derrick took a moment to watch as the woman got out the vehicle with her children, who were busily chatting with each other. She looked in the direction of the Escalade warily before going in the house with her children following her. “It wasn’t even put on the table, if you want to be honest,” Derrick said responding to Carne’s suggestion.
“Even if you use your Canadian operation. All you have to do is allow me to buy some items at a higher price than other companies. I’ll get the shit and give it away like candy in my clubs, but of course you’ll give me a return on the money by giving me a consulting fee. It’s easy shit, Derrick.”
Derrick shook his head. “It’ll never work and my old man would break his foot off in my ass if he knew I was even here talking with you.”
“Damn Derrick, you act like a bitch. You’re five times bigger than your old man. You’re making that fucker rich as hell. He shouldn’t say a damn thing about what the fuck you’re doing.” Carne calmed down a bit. “Plus, you forgot that you would still have bars up your ass if it hadn’t been for me.” Leaning over to Derrick, he spoke in a low voice. “Bet your mother would be alive today if yu hadn’t decided to take the matter in your own hands, would she?”
“Bristling in anger, Derrick found himself digging his nails into his thigh in order not to raise them and warp his fingers around Carne’s thick neck.
His stepbrother didn’t pressure him to respond. “Think about it, Derrick. I’ll give you a good month,” Carne said, patting Derrick’s shoulder as if they were the best of friends. “Enough of business, brother, what about the girl? I ain’t really got the heart to send her on the street ‘cause she’s so fucking innocent, but my fucking rep’s on the line, D, and I want the son of a bitch to pay.”
“I didn’t know you had a heart to begin with, Carne,” Derrick sneered, staring at the four family flat he saw the woman go into and rubbed his chin in deep thought as if he were making a major decision. “If I do this shit, it’ll be on the low.”
“Definitely, Mister Cover of Crain’s Business Magazine. Most definitely,” Carne promised.
