New Reviews For Diary of A... (An Inner Woman's Temptress)

Readers are always shocked when they read this book.

Most don't expect what will come and others are just completely floored from one page to another.

I found two recent Amazon reviews on the site and thought I'd showcase them over here to entice my readers to go check it out if you haven't read it and to give you an opportunity to post your own.

Playing The Hand Your Dealt

Playing the Hand You’re Dealt
Trice Hickman

Samantha and Emily have been friends from the day they met at Spellman.

Samantha has always had a very privileged life, on the right side of town with two “perfect” parents. She lives her life fearlessly and bold

Emily is focused and has moral values and is a loyal friend.

From the day these two met, they were bonded for life, close as sisters could ever be
But there is a third party in this bond…
Samantha’s father, Ed, a decent, conscientious and honorable man.

Ed has been in love with Emily from the moment he laid eyes on her 12 years ago. The man he is would not act or even acknowledge the forbidden fruit.

Emily is in love with a man nearly twice her age, Samantha’s father.

Brenda, Ed’s status climbing, drama queen and bourgeois wife; is so focused on herself and being the socialite, has a thing on the side that knows her better than she knows.

Gerti the wise and knowing housekeeper knows everyone’s secrets and lies, of 25 years.

What has slowly simmered for 12 years is about to come to a boil but who will get burned?

This sexy and well told story by author Trice Hickman is a 5 star sexy read. I loved how Trice told the story from several angles, my side your side, and the other side. All of the characters and the story lines were believable and well thought out. The dilemmas were absolutely delicious that left you very satisfied with the not so tall tale.

WOMEN HAVE FORGOTTEN THE VALUE OF HER BEING .... | Elitess joins us from AAMBC Tours

Published Poetess, Singer, Professional,Renaissance Woman,Savannah State Tiger,Senior Magazine Writer,Optimist,& lover of all things artistic.
Phyllis Jackson is a graduate of Savannah State University (Savannah, GA) with a BBA in Marketing and a MBA in Public Administration. Phyllis, also known as "The Elitess," has had a passion for word imagery since 1994. It was that same year in which she wrote her first, award-winning poem. Since then, Phyllis has been writing poetry that mainly focuses on the intimacy of the heart, mind, body and spirit. The Elitess' poems are also based on the life experiences of both men and women. Ms. Jackson's writings are powerfully vivid on the subjects of self-discovery, love, heartache and growth. In 2007, Ms. Jackson debut book, “Soul Searching Confessions" was published. Her debut book focuses on the nostalgia of our firsts (loves, heartaches, fantasies, self discovery & realization, etc). The Elitess' hope is that her art reaches the hearts and souls of all who read as well as support her passion. Poems like "Realization," "Transition," and “22 to 1," portray an artistic ideal behind the experiences of many of our lives. In 2010, the second book, Reflection Of A Journey was published.

This artist has, also, had the honor of serving as a State Executives for the NAACP Youth & College Division for 5 years, a National Executive Board Member for Non-Greek ,Collegiate, Sisterhood Organization ( Sisters Striving For Excellence Inc.), a Co-Founder for a Pre-Alumni Association & a Collegiate Modeling Troupe. The Elitess has shown to be a true renaissance woman, with a love for people, art & the great gift of life.

How long have you been writing? I have been writing since 1994. My introduction to the artistry of poetry was given at the age of 10.

·        What prompted you to write Reflections of A Journey? I felt compelled to share my life’s story with others. I believe that other people are going through the same things & should know that they are not alone. I, also, needed to display my roots & growth process in my writing, after publishing my debut book “Soul Searching Confessions”.·        Your alias is “The Elitess” , why was this name chosen to exemplify who you are as a writer ?  Well, people often confuse my name “Elitess” with the term ‘ Elitist”. My name simply means, above average. I do not see myself as being better than anyone, but I do believe that I set myself to a higher standard of life. I make it my business to live, exemplify & deliver greatness in everything that I do. For these reasons, I have been christened as “The Elitess”, but maintain a great deal of humility towards my people.

·        What are some of your other projects? I have had the opportunity to be featured as an Ultra Model Role Model, which has allowed me to reach out to a new market within communities around the world. I am, also, writing monthly poems for One Entertainment Magazine. While embracing all of these great opportunities, I am working to complete my Master’s degree program & working on my third book. “As I Am: Poetic Memoires of the Soul” should be complete by the spring of 2011.

·        What are some of the experiences you have gone through as a young black writer? As a young African American Writer, I have experienced the challenges of self publishing ( self, promotion, editing, managing, etc) I have ,also, experienced the reluctance of acceptance by people who have not initially open to change.
·        What words or suggestions would you provide to inspiring writers? I would suggest that inspiring writers learn the business behind publishing, management, etc. I would also suggest that people should go for what they desire & hope for. Never let anyone stunt your growth or kill your dreams. Only you have the power to stop your progress.

·        What are your literary endeavors? As an author, it is my goal to become a household name. I want to share my experiences & allow them to serve as inspiration to those who are going through similar situations.

Excerpt of your book

Every Woman's Dream Man
I can, only, describe you as every woman's dream man.
You seem to hold every woman's peaked interest in your hand.
With the tone of your voice & with the sensuality in your
Speech, you, effortlessly, knock even the most jaded
Woman off her feet & makes the strongest of women weak.
You are every woman's dream man.
The wisdom you provide & the respect you, silently, demand
Arouses the imaginations of an woman that comes through
You’re passing. At first meetings, all females hope
That you’re enticing face & strong embrace w/ them
Will be everlasting because.....
You are every woman's dream man,
Every lady's midnight fantasy, epitome of perfection
Every female's answered prayer & every girl's
List of wants & needs brought to life. Anyone
Woman would be blessed to be titled as your wife;
That is every woman's dream & in spite of your
Humility, I know that you know that all that you request
Is at your beck & call...
After all you are every woman's dream man.

Akiva Niran is finally entering her senior year of high school. These three years have been tough at Community Tech High School, but she made it. However, her last year in school comes with many more challenges;  between her brother coming of age and getting more attention from girls, to her cousin dealing with her relationship with a boyfriend that is way too old for her, Akiva is giving a lot of her prayer time, wisdom and herself to her family.
On top of family drama, Akiva’s dreams of dating the smartest, hottest, and most gracious guy in school (James) are threatened by a beautiful, popular cheerleader, Shawny, who will go to any lengths to make James her man.  As Akiva learns of James’ secret crush on her and rumors start to spread about their “soon to be” relationship, Akiva meets another boy, Alex, whose looks could knock her off her feet.  Does she choose the guy she believes she is meant to be with and deal with fighting off his “personal fan club”, or does she tempt fate, and take the unfamiliar route that leads to Alex?
Interview with Dara
1.)    Describe yourself for our visitors.- I’m a down to earth City girl from Detroit, who loves to laugh, buy jewelry, read, and play with my puppy. I love writing for pre-teens, and teen girls, and I know that is my calling!

2.)    Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books? Michelle Andrea Bowen, Stephanie Perry Moore, Kim Brooks, Favorite books; Church Folk, He’s fine, but is he saved, and so many others I can’t pinpoint just one! I love reading.

3.)    What do you love about writing? I love the freedom of being able to create my own world, and deciding what is going to happen next. I love thinking about my past experiences and being able to add drama to them and put it in a book. I love the whole creative process.

4.)    Why did you decide to write for pre-teens and teens? I believe there are so many good books out here for pre-teens and teens, however sometimes they try to pick up books that are too old for them. When I was a teenager I didn’t see myself or my lifestyle in a lot of the books I read.  I wanted parents as well as teens to have something they could read, with girls and young women who are examples for them. Being a Christian isn’t easy, but it makes it easier when you have examples to follow.

5.)    How long have you been writing? Since I was a child. I used to write scripts for my parents and act out the stories for them! I would be all the characters. I always (Even to this day) like to watch television shows for the plot process, just to see how it turns out.  Even how characters are written in and out of stories.

6.)    What are you working on now? I am currently working on two projects; a Non fiction book about self image. I believe most women have a skewed self image, and just really helping them to understand that they are beautifully and wonderfully made, no matter what a man has to say, and my second book, entitled “In his shadow” about a girl who has a twin brother and how she fights for attention. I’m excited for both projects!

7.)    Where can we catch you on the internet? You can always check out my blog http://www.walkinconfidence.com and my website http://www.authordaranichole.com. You can also follow me on twitter at http://www.twitter.com/daranichole

Excerpt of the book

I laughed, and before I knew it, we were kissing. Our lips touched and I felt it all on the inside.
“Girl, your lips are so smooth,”he whispered as he kissed my ear. I put my hand on his face and rubbed his smooth skin. He began to kiss my neck and I sat up in his lap for more comfort.
Just as it was about to get too heavy, Rob yelled up the stairs. “Dawg, Alex, man, come here for a second!” Alex told me to ignore it. Two minutes later Rob was banging on the door. “Dawg, open up foreal man!”
Alex walked to the door and opened  it. “Wassup?”
“Dawg, let me talk to you out here in the hallway.” Five minutes later he came back in and told me to stay there until he got back. I really wanted to know what was going on; I was kind of scared. I started thinking about ways I could get home without getting in trouble and people I could call if something went down. For some strange reason, the only person I thought of was Kristen. Aunty Deborah was the only parent I knew who would let her child out of the house this late, cause I knew my mom and dad weren’t havin’ any of this. I knew this was a bad idea.
Alex came back in and told me that Rob thought his mom was home, so he was telling all the girls to leave and trying to clean up the place.
“So you about to take me home?” I inquired.
“Naw, we have to wait, ’cause Rob’s girl is still here and you, so we just gon’ wait.”
I didn’t understand the logic, but I had no choice. This is what I get. Rob came back up the stairs and told Alex to come back in the hallway. I turned on the TV and decided to watch tv. He came back in and sat down like nothing happened.
“So, what’s going on?”
“It’s not his mom.” Suddenly Rob guided his girlfriend into the room and grabbed Alex to come downstairs. I really didn’t understand what was going on out there. Rob’s girlfriend walked by me and said hi, and then flopped in the chair. She acted like this happened all the time.
“Excuse me, uh, do you know what’s going on?” I asked politely.
“Yeah, Alex’s ex-girlfriend is here and she is crazy, so he wants us to stay up here, ’cause girl, if she sees you, she’s liable to cut you.”  I rolled my eyes in the back of my head and fell back on the couch. Me, of all people. Do I just attract drama or what?
