AND HERE'S ANOTHER CHAPTER PART
ENJOY...
________________________________
Colin just stood there stunned out of his mind about everything. When he heard them at the bottom of the steps, he finally moved to close the door and straighten up his place. The last thing he picked was the file folder.
The picture of Trisha was in there and he read over all the things. He hadn’t read this since getting released from jail.
Bernard had complied the file as a way to remind Colin that although he had gotten this off his record, he would have an invisible Scarlet Letter on his chest.
“I don’t know what happened in that car with Frank Murphy and if you were responsible or not, but I just want you to never forget the life you saw taken that day.”
They never spoke about it again after that the Colin was released from jail, but Bernard made
Colin promised to keep the file always.
Trisha Hickman was pretty and smiled brightly in the camera as if nothing in the world bothered her. He looked down at the information about her.
‘Trisha Hickman majored in Political Science at Michigan State with a 3.8 GPA. She loved to help others and hang out with friends.’
Colin wondered were some of these friends Synthia and Jason?
Pushing other papers aside to see his brother had the obituary, a twinge of guilt stuck in his gut.
Originally Colin had only scanned this file and must have skipped over this too upset to see it at all.
‘Trisha leaves behind a her parents, Rita and Jackson, her sister, Grace and her best friend for life, Synthia and her boyfriend, Jason. May God Bless this angel because she was truly loved by all.’
Closing his eyes in misery, he knew this was serious for Synthia.
He wanted to crawl up in himself and die as he realized the importance of this woman to them.
‘You didn’t just push her away, you probably drove her to suicide.’ Yet there wasn’t a way he could fix what he had just done to her. ‘She has family. Her brother will take care of her.’
Adjusting his jaw he had a feeling her brother was more distraught than angry, which was why his sister could sway him so easily.
‘If you hadn’t been so high that day you could have used a lot better judgment that day when dealing with Frank,’ he scorned himself. Frank was a time bomb and even his father knew that. He had bred a monster without control.
Once his parents death came, Colin had slowly begun to realize his conscious had started to gnaw at his gut. The more he stayed around Frank the more he saw the ugliness about the whole situation and knew everything his parents had instilled inside of him was wrong. By then he was completely addicted to the drugs and Frank was his supplier. At that point it was no longer a moral decision, it was an ugly addiction he couldn't control.
‘I tried,’ he tried to justify to himself. ‘I tried to warn her.’
His cell phone rang. It was Ms. Barlett asking about how he was coming with the money.
“Um… I-“ It was hard to think when his gut was tearing him up. “I know I assured you yesterday that I had the money, Ms. Barlett, but that wasn’t all the way true.”
Surprisingly, she didn’t sound upset. “How much do you have baby?”
His eyes were still focused on the file and he couldn’t stop reading over Synthia’s name. It was difficult to stop thinking about the horrible pain in her eyes, but he tried to suck it up and speak as if nothing bothered him. “I have three and a half. I sold the truck yesterday, so all I need is fifteen more by the five o’clock deadline. I’ll leave what I have at my job though and bring the rest to you or the bank by five. I promise.”
She reminded him, “Today’s the dead line.”
“I know, Ms. Barlett and I’m going to do whatever I can to get this,”
When he hung up the phone, he knew he’d have to take those words literally to heart. Going into his closet, he pulled down an old cigarette box he’d gotten from Frank’s father. He was to only use it in emergency. That’s what he’d promised Bernard when his brother was angry as to why he kept that information.
‘Bloody hell!’ Bernard had seethed. ‘Ya shad burn the whole lot! Ain’t no emergency worth using them people.’
It was an emergency and plus if he was going to make up for the past in order to have a future,
he needed to get rid of this now.
Opening the box, Colin pulled out an old personal phone book. His brain didn't forget how his
numbers were organized and he quickly flipped to Frank's father number.
He'd told Ms Barlett he would do anything and his back was against the wall. As he dialed the number, he had a bad taste starting to developed in his stomach.

@ ronalda: ha ha - just be legal huh? oh-kay, i'll keep that in mind.
I endorse trying to walk the straight and narrow at times... But yes... I truly believe that as long as you are comfortable and you get what you need the most from/with the person.... other people's opinion shouldnt matter.... because at the end of the day... you're the one in the shituation...
And trust your gut instinct... it is never wrong... dont ignore a niggling feeling....
Now can you PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE GIVE US MORE STORY????? :-)

Hi Sylvia I have to congratulate you for doing a great job as a writer. I just found out about this blo from TST and I had to read it all out first before commenting. I am already hooked on this story and Although I just found it I am eagerly awaiting an update. Collin and Syn met under strange circumstances and their attraction is strong. But now she found out about Collin having to do with her friend's death, is a hard blow. Now he is in dire straits and is resorting to going back where he didn't want to. I know he served his time and I feel for him. I hope he gets the money elsewhere and with a clear conscience. So thank you for bringing this wonderful story and I'm patiently waiting for more. And about the age difference thing, I think it's ok. It's not that far apart as long your at a consenting age. Laters.
OMG!!!....post more please, thats all i gotta say after reading these chapters......
That is crazy. Maybe he is going back to the other side. Great post!
